Your presence is the most joyous gift we could ever hope for. We hope to see you in Cancun, but if you're unable to attend, please send us your good wishes and warm thoughts.
If you’d still like to get us a gift to celebrate, please consider gift cards or donating to our registry fund. Gift cards are easier for us to transport from Cancun and we would be using the registry fund to save for a down payment on a house.
Cancún International Airport is located in Cancún, Quintana Roo, on the Caribbean coast of Mexico's Yucatán Peninsula. It is Mexico's second busiest airport, after Mexico City International Airport, but the biggest for international passengers.
TIP: When booking return flghts try to book direct flights. After re-entering the US, customs makes you collect your bags and re-check them before proceeding to your final destination if you have a connecting flight.
Transportation to and from the airport can be booked through various transportation services. We recommend using Canada Transfers. http://www.canadatransfers.com/ . Prices range from $50 - $55 and includes round trip transportation between hotel and airport. You can also book transport to various local attractions.
TIP: After collecting your bags and clearing customs, you meet your transportation outside. Before you go outside there is a gauntlet of time-share people who will attempt to convince you to speak with them. Decline their invitation and continue walking until you are outside. Once outside, look for the sign of the transfer group you are using.
Passport books are required for air travel to and from Mexico.
This Hyatt features 7 restaurants as part of your all inclusive plan. Asiana, Marie Marie, and Chef’s Plate will sometimes fill up quickly. We recommend guests book reservations upon check-in at restaurants especially Asiana (the teppanyaki side) as there is limited seating.
The Mexican peso is the official currency, though US dollars are accepted at most places. Visa, Amex, and Mastercard are also widely accepted.
TIP: Call your credit card company to let them know you are traveling to ensure your transactions go through without a problem. Leave copies of your passport, flight/hotel itinerary and any other valuable information with a relative.
4 1/2 hours from New York City; 5 hours from LA; 4 hours from Chicago; 2 1/2 hours from Dallas
Cancun is reputed to have an average of 253 sunny days a year. Trade winds temper the average 84-degree temperature.
TIP: Bring sun block! Lots and lots of sun blockl!
Housekeeping and bellman gratuities are included, but feel free to extend your appreciation if you receive outstanding service.
Explore Mayan ruins:
Cancun's big resorts offer a comfortable nest from which to explore ancient Mayan ruins. The seaside Mayan city of Tulum is closest. Good day trips include Coba, a quiet site with towering temple pyramids, and Chichen Itza, a prominent city from the 8th to the 12th centuries. El Castillo, Chichen Itza's pyramid centerpiece, is a must-see
Cool beaches and hot nightlife:
Masses of lively folks gather to soak up the sun on the ever-popular beaches along Cancun's "Hotel Zone" -- this is the place to grab a volleyball, learn to windsurf and browse the malls along the strip. For a more laid-back, oceanside experience, head over to the nearby beach at Akumal, a popular snorkel spot known for its cenotes (natural sinkholes), azure waters, and underwater caves and corals. When the sun slides out of sight, kick up your heels with the American party crowd at one of the many bars at the three-level Coco Bongo, or relax with cocktails and live music at Roots Jazz Club.
Colorful shopping stands can be found everywhere, but Ki Huic on Tulum Avenue in Cancun is the place to go for crafts. For silver, visit Flamingo Plaza and Plaza Caracol on Kukulcan Boulevard, Cancun's main drag. Look for the "925" quality stamp, and don't hesitate to bargain at outdoor markets
